Tips For Protecting Your Expensive Cell Phone

Most everyone has a cell phone nowadays.  The average price of today’s leading edge phones has blown past $1000.00.  Sure, insurance policies are available (and costly themselves).  But there are several things you can do inexpensively that will help you protect your cell phone from some of the more common issues.

First, do not put your phone in your back pocket.  That’s a simple recipe for cracking your screen at best, and perhaps the entire phone at worst.

Personally, I carry my phone in my front pocket.  A tip for pockets is to always place the screen facing your leg instead of outward.  That way, if you bump into something hard, you won’t crack the screen.

Second, invest in a good case for your phone.  As far as I know, the best cases are OtterBOX, but they also can be pricy if you’re on a budget.  A good alternative is the cases from Supcase. My last two phone cases (Samsung Galaxy 8 Active and OnePlus 6T) have been from Supcase, and I have not cracked a screen or suffered any other damage.

Third, get a screen protector for your phone.  These are readily available for popular phones and are inexpensive.  I recommend the Zagg InvisibleShield brand of screen protectors.  Yes, they can be a little more expensive, but you do get what you pay for.  None of my phones equipped with a Zagg InvisibleShield ever suffered a screen failure.  You receive everything in the package that you need to install the screen protector.

If you follow these tips, you’ll have a much better chance of preserving that expensive phone.
